I found this quiz that calculates your ecological footprints. Unfortunately it uses flash, so not every device can take the quiz. But the result I got was that if everyone lived as I do, we would need 2.1 planet Earth to provide enough resources. Sorry people. If you would like to take the quiz, you can find it at the Earth Day Network
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year!
The 1992 Earth Flag pledge was written by Maurice Strong, the first executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme and former commissioner of the World Commission on Environment and Development in 1986. The 1992 pledge reads as follows:
I pledge to the best of my ability to help make the earth a safe and hospitable home for this and future generations.
The 2015 Earth Flag pledge is:
I pledge to make Earth Day Every Day and reduce my carbon footprint.
Walk softly to these links to read more about Earth Day: There’s the Earth Society Foundation, the Direct Design Now that explains how the movement started (very interesting read), and Earth Day Canada, and finally, the Earth Day Carol, where you can learn all about Earth Day with an app that is available for iPad, iPhone, Android, Kindle Fire, and Nook Color devices.
