My Persians are approaching two milestones: A second birthday on your Canada Day and two years as part of my household, in September. I share a couple links to videos I made of the boys when they were really young. Both were very ill as kittens. They and their littermates played with, then ate a grasshopper infected with some sort of amoebic organism. It took nearly the first three months from the time I first got them to resolve the health issues, so my memories of them as kittens are sad and joyous the same. I was so grateful when the hundreds of dollars of veterinarian bills and time finally resolved the health issues- and the frequent need to give both boys baths to soak off diarrhea! Whew! There were many times I wondered if I’d made a mistake accepting them as gifts, but time showed that they were exactly what I needed after the death of Louie, the nearly 24 pound ginger tabby that died a month after they were born.
Oh yes, I am quite familiar with these problems. My Rufus had the runs for the first two or three months as well. Then we found the perfect diet change, and no real problems since! They are worth it, eh? I will go see the videos! 🙂

Rufus has that “I didn’t give you permission to take that photo” look on the top photo. Perhaps because of the adorable look of vulnerability in the older photo. Chippy looks pleasantly full.
Chippy’s photo was taken late last fall, so he was full indeed. I finally saw him again just a few days ago, and he is quite lean now. Soon, he’ll be eating out of a bowl I got just for him. He used to eat out of our hands … I’m hoping he’ll be his old self again this year.
and Rufus always looks like he doesn’t totally agree with me! One of the reasons I love him so much!! 🙂

And doesn’t she look like the type to “decide when she feels like doing it when she feels like it, and a moment before!” 🙂
