On November 17, 1960, the Honorable Lester B. Pearson was presented with the Medallion of Valour of the State of Israel for his “outstanding role in the deliberations of,the United Nations which led to the judicious consideration of the differences between the State of Israel and the Arab nations.”

Lester B. Pearson was a strong advocate of the U.N.’s role in peacekeeping.  Hr received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957 for his work in the Suez Crisis In 1956.

He was Canada’s 14th Prime Minister from April 22, 1963 to April 20, 1968.
