
Francis Evans Cornish, QC (February 1, 1831 – November 28, 1878) was a politician in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. He served as Mayor of London, Ontario, in the early 1860s, became the first Mayor of Winnipeg in 1874, and was for a time a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Although 304 were registered to vote, 331 ballots were cast!
Previously mayor of London, Ontario, Francis E. Cornish was elected.

Yeah, it certainly sounds like it, doesn’t it? Apparently only landowners could vote then. Maybe some thought they had more land to warrant another vote? Ah, different times …
